Interventional Cage Match?

With the release of the Xience stent in the past few days we've had a rush of device reps into the cath lab trying to outmaneuver one another to promote their products.  We currently have open access to three drug eluting stents and the competition is cutthroat but very subdued.

SES have dropped off due to the release of the newer stents.  ZES are less popular with the unconventional delivery system, but seem very deliverable in tight spots.  EES are just out and everyone is hot to try them out, but have seen some PES-like sticky balloons.

Curious to know whether anybody else is havine a similar experience with stents or reps?

Does a "permissive" level of late loss as with EES reduce the risk of late stent thrombosis? If that is the case, then I could see EES taking over what is currently going to the BMS market.

Hi Brain, Xience V stent is available in my country for more than 2 years, it has quite good late loss, very good deliverability, and its balloon and delivery system seems better than taxus and Cypher. In my experience whenever we need the least late loss, like very long instent restenosis in a vessel with < 2.75 mm Reference Diameter, absolutely cypher is preferable, but when deliverability is the problem, both Endeavor and Xience V are quite good.
